American Girl Place

The the girls' birthday we took a trip with Chicago with Aunt Katie and cousins Rosie and Bella. When we got on the South Shore in Hudson Lake it was full so we sat in the rear car's control area which was kind of a treat. Once we got to Michigan City, they added 4 more cars and we were able to find real seats.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day. We walked for as long as we could. But Carolyn started to not feel well so we hailed a cab to the Water Tower and the American Girl Place.

The first doll Carolyn saw was Caroline and her cow Garnet. This is the doll she picked out from the catalog and there was no swaying her from getting her. Once we loaded up with the Caroline doll, cow and extra outfit Carolyn asked to go home. She stuggled through shopping for Eleanor who got a "My American Girl" which looked like her and an outfit for herself to match her doll.

Eleanor went with Aunt Katie and her cousins to the big candy store in Water Tower while Carolyn and I sat on the floor and waited. It didn't take long and Carolyn was asleep in my lap.

Lunch was at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building. We couldn't have found a better lunch in Chicago. The food was great and the view was amazing!

After a long day of shopping, eating and having a great time, we were back on the train heading home with our American Girl dolls!

Eleanor: 1st Grade Singing Program, Hunting for Leprechauns and 7th Birthday

Recently Eleanor had her 1st grade singing program. In music class she has been learning songs which correlate to subjects she has been learning in the classroom. She sang songs such as: "C-A-F-E (Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, Expand Vocabulary)", "Recycle Rap", "Brementown Rap", "The Pages of a Book", "What do you do with a Water Waster".

On St. Patrick's Day, Eleanor with the help of her dad, set up a leprechaun trap and waiting patiently in the cold for a leprechaun who never showed.

On March 24th, we celebrated Eleanor's 7th birthday with a win by IU over Temple in an  NCAA tournament game, gametime snacks which included mac n cheese, and an ice cream cake. Hank thought it was his birthday and was confused when everyone said "...happy birthday dear Eleanor..."
