Annie, Paul & Ian's Visit

Last night we drove to Plainwell to see Matt's cousin Annie and her new husband Paul and baby Ian. Ian is just weeks younger than Hank. They are a great looking, happy little family. Many of the Streidl clan were there including Grandpa (of course), Mike, Cinny, Margo, Larry, Jim, Becky, Ally, Adam, Izzy, Nic, Chris, Beth, Oliver, and Cam. We also had visits from Terry Highfield and Tom and Toni Berlin.

Relatively speaking Hank is a big boy, much bigger than our little girls. But seems every time he's next to another boy the same age he turns into a little peanut.

Best Weekend Ever

Last weekend we had decent weather Saturday and beautiful weather on Sunday. We got tons of yardwork done (spreading mulch for the ground up stumps, planting hostas, mowing the lawn) the girls ran through the sprinkler and Hank had fun sitting around taking it all in. The yard is looking fabulous. It honestly was the best weekend! It was the reason why we built this house and had these babies.

And on Tuesday, Matt got the girls out flying their kite!

Hank - 8 Months, 8 Teeth!

That's right, Hank got tooth #7 and #8 (on the bottom). We noticed them on May 15, at 8 months and 4 days, after a fussy car ride. Hank is rarely fussy so it was no surprise to see the teeth poked through.

There aren't any new milestones to report besides the teeth. Hank's doing better with tummy time and rolls over but there's no indication that he wants to crawl or pull himself up. He barely scoots.

The boy does love to eat - I thing spaghetti and brocoli may be his favorites. But he doesn't dislike anything we give him - asparagus, potatoes, biscuits, eggs, pasta of all sorts, avocado. Oh and that boy has a sweet tooth. He's grunts and groans and grabs until I give him bits of my M&Ms when I'm eating them.

Our monthly photoshoots are getting more and more difficult. As soon as he spies the signs, he lunges and grabs and thinks it's so funny. It is but I'd like to get in one picture. Eleanor helped me this month but we weren't all that successful.

Potawatomi Zoo

Today I dogged off work so Carolyn and I could join Eleanor and her preschool class at the Potawatomi Zoo. We had a fantastic day with beautiful zoo weather - sunny but cool in the mid-50s (I've heard the animals prefer those temps even though my perfect temps are in the 70s).

We started the morning at the playground across the street from the zoo. It was perfect for running some of the energy out of the kids.

Carolyn would not put her lunch in the cooler and barely let it out of her sight
After the playground we sat at the picnic tables and ate our sack lunches. Then off to the zoo!!!
We were excited to see the lion, though he didn't prove a whole lot of entertainment.

Eleanor the Lion!
Aww, Eleanor giving Carolyn a boost so she could see the monkeys who weren't outside.

Eleanor's favorite - The Flamingos!

Eleanor's other favorite - The Kangaroos!

And the highlight of the day - which we almost missed - the LION! He put on a wonderful show for the kids walking circles and always passing directly next to the kids! They freaked!!!

Great day! Thanks girls, you were wonderful. We'll have to get back soon and bring the boys next time!
