Christmas Time: Traditions, Cookies, Parties, Giving, Receiving, Love & Happiness

Christmas came early for this lady when the gorgeous Restoration Hardware chairs came that Matt ordered for me! Also a great gift for the kids: 3 huge boxes and tons of giant bubble wrap!

We got a jump on our Swedish tradition and made a batch of pepparkokar to give the teachers, principal, secretary, and bus driver.

Hank and I surprised Carolyn at her Kindergarten Christmas party
And possibly beginning a new tradition, Nicole came over for a deliciously fun day of cookie baking!
This year, Christmas at Buddy and Jackie's was the Sunday prior to Christmas (they surprised the KC Ohlunds and had Christmas with them).
Hank really does love puppy Gus. It's the red sweater he thinks is "not cool" :(
Brody in Hanna's high heels :)
Puppy Winnie spent the week with us. The kids just loved having her (all 5 days) and were helpful walking her (the first 24 hours). Puppies are a lot of work we found out. But darn cute they are!

Christmas with the daycare kids. All in their new cozy blankets from Sandy!

And a great tradition is our late night, jammie and coffee drive looking at Christmas lights.

To our surprise, the Jessie family put out lights again this year (the scaled down version though you can hardly tell).
Carolyn sneaking to get that last candy cane out of the tree
The LeRoy Family Christmas Eve party was such a grand affair as usual. We really enjoyed seeing Jeana and Nate's house and think they are great hosts.

Christmas morning pepparkokar breakfast. Why not?

O Christmas Tree

We outdid ourselves once again and scored the most beautiful Christmas tree ever!

Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Kansas City. I had wanted to have a nice quiet holiday with Sven and Charity and the boys for some time and it was as great as I had hoped. Though we got off to a rough start when on Monday night I found lice on Eleanor and Hank. So I spent the evening before our trip shampooing and nit picking. And if that wasn't enough, Tuesday morning Carolyn woke up with a terrible ear infection. A quick trip to the doctor and a prescription for an antibiotic did the trick. It was KC or bust and we were on the road by 3pm. At 11:30, 12:30 local time, we pulled in the Ohlund driveway. A quick hello and we set off to bed. I woke up to Hank vomiting at 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, and 4:30. Holy crap this could be the holiday straight from H - E - double hockey sticks. But fortunately Hank made a quick recovery and we had a great vacation!

Hightlights include gametime at the local super-huge arcade, a beautiful, delicious, fantastic wine-consuming, great company Thanksgiving dinner at Mike and Denise Jeffries, bowling, and outdoor fun!

The following week at school, Carolyn brought home this picture of our Thanksgiving meal:
