The Girls

We had friends over for dinner Friday night and they brought the girls gifts (Eleanor may just love her baby sister because of all the gifts she's getting). Eleanor got a duck which she named Duck Duck Goose :) And Carolyn got a bunny. Since Eleanor had her duck, she had to get Carolyn her bunny and the two posed for me on the couch. I just had to post these super cute pictures...

Great Weather Last Week!

Last week we had beautiful weather and got outside every day! One of my favorite sets of pictures taken of Eleanor was when we were outside and she had her foot hanging out of her blanket while laying in her bouncy chair. I recreated the scene for Carolyn.

Eleanor loves being outside, so the nice weather was great for her. She got to play with her cousins on the swingset and decorate our patio with sidewalk chalk!

Eleanor's 2 Year Pics

We waited until Carolyn's arrival before taking Eleanor to get her 2-year pictures taken so we could get a picture of the girls together. Eleanor did a great job posing, though her smile needs some work. She think she has to close her eyes to smile. But we managed to get a couple really cute ones...
We also purchased a large photo of the two girls (Eleanor kissing Carolyn's head). All pictures can be viewed on the Picture People website.

Big sister

Matt picked Eleanor up from daycare and brought her to the hospital to meet her baby sister. We've tried preparing Eleanor for having a baby sister and for as much as a 2-year-old can, she understood.

As Eleanor walked into our room at the hospital, her expression was priceless. She saw me first, then her baby sister in my arms. Eleanor got this look of amazement on her face as her arms went down to her sides and she leaned towards Carolyn to get a better look. She immediately jumped up on the bed and hugged and kissed Carolyn wanting to hold her.

So her initial reaction was great. She even handled me and Carolyn staying at the hospital while her and Matt went home fine. And ever since we came home on Saturday, Eleanor has been a great, attentive, little big sister. Always wanting to hug and kiss Carolyn.

I had thoughts that Eleanor would be jealous (which if she is, she handles it well) and be upset when I would hold Carolyn and not her. But to my surprise, the other night Carolyn was in her bouncy chair while I was making dinner and started fussing. Eleanor ran over to me and said, "Hold baby sister". I think we're all going to be great!

I, once again, had an amazing delivery. No serious complications. A bit of worrying when my contractions caused the baby's heartrate to slow. But the doctor arrived at 12:30 to announce that I was ready to push. One push later Carolyn was here and healthy (a short cord was to blame). We're all excited and bless to have another little girl join our family!
